Introduction
The China Quyi Artists Association (CQAA) was established in July 1949. Its predecessor was the Preparatory Committee of the All China Quyi Improvement Association, later reorganized as the China Quyi Research Association and the China Quyi Workers Association. In November 1979, it was officially renamed as the China Quyi Artists Association.
The CQAA is a people's organization composed of Quyi artists from all ethnic groups under the leadership of the Communist Party of China. It acts as a bridge and link between the Party, the government and the Quyi art community. The association is also a group member of the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles (CFLAC). The highest authority of the CQAA is the National Congress, which is held every five years. The CQAA has both group members and individual members, currently comprising 36 group members and over 6000 individual members. The CQAA fulfills its basic functions of unity and guidance, liaison and coordination, service and administration, self-discipline and rights protection. It widely unites Quyi artists and Quyi workers across the country. The association follows the direction of serving the people and socialism with literature and art. It adheres to the "Double-Hundred" policy, and to the principle of being close to reality, life, and the public. The CQAA holds flagship activities such as the China Quyi Peony Award Selection, the China Quyi Festival, the National Ethnic Minority Quyi Exhibition, the National Children's Quyi Exhibition, the "Sending Laughter to the Public" Show, the Cross-Strait Quyi Showcase, the International Humor Art Week, the Chinese Quyi Festival in Paris, and the World Showcase of Chinese Quyi. It also strives to safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of Quyi artists and workers; strengthen the unity and cooperation among Quyi art groups, artists, and workers, and foster connections, cooperation, and exchanges with relevant art groups and individuals in Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan and the international community. It plays a significant role in promoting the development of Chinese Quyi art and culture.
