The China Literary and Art Critics Association (referred to as the China Critics Association) is a group member of the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles. It is a national, united, non-profit social organization, voluntarily composed of literary and art critics and those engaged in criticism work, conducting activities according to its guidelines. It is a significant force in the flourishing and development of China’s literary and art sectors. Established on May 30, 2014,the association is currently chaired by Xia Chao, with Xu Yuechun serving as vice-chairman and secretary-general. The Art Criticism Center of China Federation of Literary and Art Circles serves as the association’ss operational body.
The association has achieved significant contributions in areas such as theoretical construction, exemplary guidance, talent cultivation, industry evaluation, and platform building, advancing historic progress of Chinese literary and art criticism industry. The association publishes the monthly journal China Literature and Art Criticism (Zhongguo Wenyi Pinglun), compiles Annual Report on Art Development of China (Zhongguo Niandu Yishu Fazhan Baogao), and hosts the “Woodpecker Cup”(Zhuomuniao Bei) Annual Excellence Awards for China Literary and Art Criticism. It also collaborates with top Chinese universities such as Peking University and Tsinghua University to establish 15 Chinese literary and art criticism bases. As of July 31, 2024, the China Critics Association has 32 group members, 2,578 individual members, and nine specialized committees.
