Introduction
China Dancers Association, founded in 1949, is a professional people’s organization formed by dancers of all ethnic groups in China, as well as a group member of China Federation of Literary and Art Circles (CFLAC). It operates on a system of group and individual membership. CDA has over 10,000 individual members and 38 group members including dancers associations distributed in provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities nationwide and literary and art federations’ dance associations in the industry. Its highest authority of is the National Members’ Congress of CDA.
The China Dancers Association has multiple professional committees throughout the country. The It primary objectives encompass fostering unity and collaboration among artists, establish strong networks through coordinated efforts and expert guidance, effectively managing membership administration, promoting ethical conduct and self-discipline within the artistic community, safeguarding the rights and interests of dancers and providing comprehensive support services to its members.
CDA is obliged to perform the following duties: training dance professionals; organizing artists to engage in people’s daily life for creation; running competitions and holding dance festivals; displaying dance achievements and holding theoretical research; promoting publication and publicity; providing art voluntary service; launching dance exchanges between China and foreign countries and protecting rights and interests of members, etc. The mission of CDA is to promote and activate the creation of dance art, carry out theoretical and academic researches and discussions of dance, hold professional dance contests, tap and cultivate dance talents, host public dance events, enrich people’s cultural life, and organize dance exchanges between China and foreign countries, in order to prosper and develop China’s dance art.
CDA organizes a diverse array of dance activities annually, including both regular and special events. These include prestigious awards like the China Dance “Lotus Award”, major festivals such as the China Dance Festival, and significant initiatives like the National Seminar on dance creation, National Youth Dance Development, the “Connecting with Life, Rooted in the People”-Tour for Dance Creation and “Dazzling Little Lotus” - National Children’s Dance Performance.
CDA actively fosters international dance exchange, cultivating strong ties with Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and foreign countries. This includes showcasing the brilliance of Chinese dance on the global stage through international tours and performances, while also inviting foreign dancers to experience and perform in China. It dispatches dance groups and individual dancers to participate in international art festivals and cultural exchanges.
